December 23, 2008 cancer No CommentsI have been working in the hospital for a year now. I have seen patients come and go, some get well while some patients have their tragic endings. Though there are many kinds of illnesses and cases I have handled, I pity cancer patients the most. I have already memorized their names and faces since they often go to the hospital usually monthly for their chemotherapy or for blood transfusion. It is also the closest to my heart since I have handled the mothers of my co workers, one has breast cancer and the other is nasopharyngeal cancer and both have died. I have seen them suffer the pain, they had undergone extreme pain, nausea, vomiting, hemorrhaging, on the late part they had respiratory difficulties due to the complication of their illness. What the doctors can do most is to control the growth of abnormal cells and the symptoms of the disease. It is hard managing cancer since we don’t really know where it may metastasize since every patient has its unique case. Though there are many treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, hormonal therapy, etc the main aim is too help the patient have a normal life and diminishing suffering.
