During the winter season our children are more prone to having illnesses like fever. As parents we ought to know the first aid when your kids have fever. Fever is a compensatory reaction of the body againts infections which may be bacterial or viral in nature, reaction to childhood immunization, extreme weather (hot or cold) or allergy to medications and food. The first thing to do is to verify if your children has a fever is taking a thermometer to take the temperature, for infants rectal thermometer is preferred although other symptoms is flushing of the skin, decrease in appetite, nausea, vomiting, body ache, chills. Unlike to usual belief the patient should have loose clothing except if he has chills. Keep the child in a cool place. Hydrate the patient but increasing the fluid intake, giving tepid sponge bath, take prescribed medications for fever like Tylenol or paracetamol. For children never gibe aspirin. If the condition pursues you might as well take the patient to the hospital especially if vomiting, diarrhea, rashes, seizure, and difficulty of breathing occurs. –>
