SJS or Steven Johnson syndrome is a very rare form of illness that affects the skin. It usually appears as generalized rashes or the skin looks scaly. The eyelids, mouth, tongue, inguinal, scalp are mostly affected. It is said that it caused mostly idiopathic but other causes of the disease is infections or it may be a hypersensitivity or severe allergic reaction to drugs like allupurinol, sulfa drugs, penicillin, diclofenac etc. Treatment is focused mostly in alleviating the symptoms of the disease like for the mouth sores the patient should use mouth gargles at least 4 times a day. The patient’s nutrition should also be looked upon since because of the severity of the mouth sores the patient is unable to eat. The eyelids are mostly attacked that is why eye care is a must. Using eye ointments or better yet consult an ophthalmologist. The patient is also immune compromised that is he is susceptible to infection. Growing children does a lot of activities in school and also at home. They love to explore things which may lead them to accidents. Though we watch out for them while they do their play and activities we still need to know first aid treatments to be prepared for the inevitable things that may happen. During the childhood years they are more prone to fractures. When a trauma or pressure to the skin and bones happen we may suspect fracture. Severe pain, difficulty in movement, swelling, bleeding, abnormal proportion, twist or deformity of the affected area and pain during pressure are the symptoms for fracture. When there is a suspected fracture you should stabilize the limb to avoid further injuries. If there is presence of bleeding apply pressure and clean and dress the wound. After doing this rush the patient to the hospital for further examination. Always practice safety measure to avoid accidents. –>
